So, after a quick Google search, I learned that pink Himalayan salt is made from rock crystals of salt that have been mined from areas close to the Himalayas, often in Pakistan.
It gets its rosy hue from a higher concentration of trace minerals like magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Some research suggests that this offers additional health benefits.
Proponents of Himalayan salt also say the taste is better which may be due to its level of purity. Unlike regular table salt, it contains no potentially dangerous preservatives.
Calcium carbonate, magnesium carbonate, and aluminum hydroxide are often added to improve the ability of table salt to pour. Aluminum is a light alloy that deposits into your brain – a potential cause of Alzheimer’s disease.
