Product Spotlight: Rada Cutlery
These days it’s hard to find products made exclusively in the USA.
They’re usually shipped from overseas and distributed by American companies.
But, a few exceptions still exist and one should look no further than Waverly, Iowa. Here you’ll find the Rada Cutlery plant, which still manufactures their line all the way from raw materials through to the finished products.
Beginning in 1948 Rada’s mission has been: “to provide our customers the best value of kitchen knives for their dollar.”
The commitment of dedicated employees who strive to ensure efficiency and eliminate waste makes it possible to retain the “Made in America” label.
This is done at every stage of the process: manufacturing, packaging, order-processing, and shipping.
Rada offers a Lifetime Guarantee due to any defects in materials or workmanship. Proper washing and care will maximize the beauty and performance of the cutlery.
They have two options to choose from. The silver brushed aluminum handle cutlery is hand wash only, while the black stainless steel resin handle cutlery can be placed in the dishwasher if desired.
However, hand washing is always the preferred cleaning method because:
- It prevents unnecessary microscopic nicks on the blades’ cutting edge.
- Recent government mandated changes to phosphate-free dishwashing detergents creates a harsh environment for metals — including stainless steel blades and in particular our brushed aluminum handles.
- Dishwashers have evolved to higher temperatures for cleansing and drying that is incompatible with fine cutlery.
Rada cutlery is also sold via fundraising groups, owner-operated stores, and their own company website.
