Saveur’s 2016 Best Gourmet Food Blog Award Winners – Part 1

Saveur Magazine Cover

Saveur, the  French word for “flavor,” was chosen by Dorothy Kalins as the title of her newly launched food magazine back in 1994. Cofounded with Christopher Hirsheimer and Colman Andrews, all three had previously worked together on the Metropolitan Home magazine.

As a gourmet food, wine, and travel magazine based in New York City, Saveur specializes in essays about various world cuisines. Their slogan Savor a world of authentic cuisine is considered a nod to more classic culinary traditions versus the fleeting food trends.

In 2010 they accepted nominations for the inaugural “Best Food Blog Awards” in nine categories. By 2016 those categories grew to 14 and seven are featured below. We’ll have the last seven ready on Friday. (Note: in some categories, there were an Editors’ Choice AND a Readers’ Choice. We’re only featuring the Readers’ Choice selections here.)
