We’re pleased to announce that Inca Tea has returned to The Happy Eggplant!
After our distributor stopped carrying it we had some difficulty finding another, probably due to Covid-19. Supply chains in all industries have been affected.
However, we’re now stocked up on ALL six varieties in teabags only:
- Peruvian Spiced Berry
- Punchau Peach
- Tawantin Black
- Machu Picchu Mango
- Pachamama Green
- Cusco Chamomile
Inca Tea got its start on the Inca Trail in Peru, South America. The founder, Ryan Florio, was hiking to Machu Picchu with friends when he sampled a local concoction called chica morada. Their guide boiled purple corn, cinnamon, cloves, freshly cut apples and pineapple to create a delicious herbal tea.
After consuming the beverage the hikers noticed a boost of energy. They learned that purple corn is a super food, surpassing even blueberries and acai berries. It contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that can fight obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure. They continued to drink it throughout their journey.
Ryan had undergone back and knee surgeries, which prompted his doctors to advise against the hike into the Andes mountains. However, he noticed renewed energy and improvement in his overall physical being after enjoying the Peruvian tea. Ryan decided he wanted to bring the benefits of purple corn back to the United States and began formulating his business plan.
The rest, as they say, is history.
Luckily, we have an abundance in time for the holidays, which is great news for our Inca Tea connoisseurs. But, it’s also great news for anyone who enjoys hot beverages throughout the cold, winter months. You can satisfy your thirst and shake off the chills, while doing your body good!
Pick up a box for yourself and/or the tea-lover on your Christmas list. You’ll be glad you did!
